What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is an invisible way to get your teeth straightened in Tulsa. Invisalign® uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth, without metal wires or brackets. It has been proven effective in clinical research and dental practices nationwide.

Invisalign® is a custom-made aligner based on your teeth. The aligner is interchanged about every two weeks for anywhere from six up to 18 months. Invisalign looks a lot like a retainer, but it has a different purpose. It’s a clinically proven orthodontic treatment technique for moving and properly aligning your teeth for a beautiful smile.

Invisalign® Comparison With Traditional Braces

Unlike dental braces, Invisalign® provides a convenient method for straightening teeth. Our patients love Invisalign® because it minimizes any interference with your everyday life and requires much less maintenance.

Patients can remove their Invisalign® when brushing, flossing, eating or drinking; this is a significant advantage over the use of braces, which are prone to damage when eating hard or chewy foods. Another major advantage of Invisalign® is their visual appearance.

Tulsa Dental Center patients are able to get their teeth straightened, without embarrassing metal brackets and wires that can draw unwanted attention to the mouth. The name of the product says it all – they really are nearly invisible.

Invisalign® is also easier on the soft tissues in your mouth. Our patients have found that the plastic aligners are very gentle on their cheeks and gums. This is a stark contrast to braces which can contain sharp edges that may scrape or cut the inside of the mouth.

Limitations of Invisalign®

While we do find that Invisalign® aligners can correct a large number of dental problems for Tulsa Dental Center patients, there are still some limitations.

If you need to align a severe malocclusion or a badly aligned bite, we may not use Invisalign® in this instance.

We typically see Tulsa Dental Center patients have the most success with Invisalign® when it comes to teeth that can be tilted into place, but if molars are in need of re-alignment, a different method may be suggested by our team.

What is an Invisalign® aligner made of?

Invisalign® aligners are made out of a special, patented, flexible thermoplastic material called SmartTrack®. This plastic material is exclusively used on Invisalign® products.

How does Invisalign® teeth straightening work?

Dr. Roulston will create a unique Invisalign® treatment plan that is designed specifically for your teeth. This is based on an initial process of mapping out the movements of your teeth. Next, we will then order a series of Invisalign® aligners, based on a prescriptive design to create the right amount of force over time, and on the right teeth in order to adjust them to the right place.

We’ll walk you through each step of the Invisalign® process to make sure that you are making the right amount of progress, and to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

What are the benefits of Invisalign® for Teeth Straightening in Tulsa?

When your new aligners arrive, you can expect to wear them for 20-22 hours per day. As your teeth straightening treatment progresses, you will also need a new set of aligners to be placed every 1-2 weeks.
